Our trip to Disneyland was a blast! We went on all the rides we wanted and got to go to California Adventure too. Some of our favorite rides were Soarin Over California, California Screamin, The Matterhorn. It was great to be able to all go on the rides as a family and spend the week together. Looking around

On Christmas Day Becca and the kids went to Disneyland in the morning while everyone else slept in (Dave went with us too). Brennen wanted to go the Jedi Training Academy and after the show started they chose all three kids to be Jedi trainees (Padowans?) and fight Darth Vadar and Darth Mall. Go figure! The kids loved it and we got great pics!

I did it this year - I finally got my cousins together for a family reunion. It has taken awhile, but we got as many of us to come camping as we could. It was so fun. Most of my cousins had not seen each other since we were little kids. We went camping near Fish Lake for two days - had almost 30 people - pretty successful for a first time reunion. Everyone had so much fun - we'll do it again next year!

The first family reunion of the year - the annual Chappell Family Camp held the second weekend in July. We had a great time this year - camped for two days up on Boulder Mountain. It was so pretty - lots of good food, riding wheelers and sitting around relaxing. Great fun.

The kids had so much fun - decided to bury their neighbor friend in the dirt - how nice is that!

A few weeks ago I decided to take all the kids to Calf Creek - I always went there as a kid. I knew it was a little crazy, being July and all, but we decided not to hike to the falls and just to play in the water. What a fun day. We lasted about 3 hours in the water because it was so hot - and because Carter wouldn't tolerate much more. Then we got to go to Anasazi Indian Village in Boulder and look around a bit. We went back to Torrey for ice cream and then home. Fun, fun day.

Trip to Idaho - mom put Carter on the little kid ride and a theme park. She had to hold on to his arm because he was able to balance, but he had fun. He's 7 months old.

He ate his cake perfectly - first he just took a look at it, then he dug in. He sure enjoyed himself, but mom only let it go on for so long. As soon as he started flinging pieces of cake on the floor, it was over! To the bathtub!

Well, our baby Carter isn't really a baby anymore - he's big 1 year old boy! Okay, he's still little. He isn't quite walking yet, but he's close. We had a small family get together in the evening and did the whole one-year-old party - he got his own piece of cake, a present and everyone was so excited to celebrate with our special baby boy!

Brennen got a little wet trying to tie the balloons - they wanted mom to help - I refused. The deal was that they tried to fill and tie as many balloons as they could in 20 minutes - we split the boys up in two teams, 6 per team, and they gathered their balloons in coolers, went and hit at their "forts" and had a great water war!

Another Star Wars birthday - this is the third year in a row. Brennen still loves Star Wars, he'll never get sick of it. For his birthday, he got Star Wars legos and Star Wars playing cards. His favorite present was from one of the boys, Stephen, who gave him a PT Cruiser remote control car. It was a really nice gift - Stephen said he saved two months of allowance for it. What good friends!

Brennen turned 11 years old on July 22 - he had a birthday party the day before, inviting 23 of his "closest" friends - basically all the boys in his class. About 13 people came and we had a water balloon fight, roasted hot dogs, had cake and ice cream and played with his toys. The kids were sure cute and everyone had a good time. It's so fun how kids look forward to their birthdays all year long - he's already looking forward to next year!

Cedar Mountain Science Camp 2009

Well, we made it through another year of science camp for Brennen and Kaitlin. They sure had fun and we are so glad that they had the opportunity to go. They left for camp from Cedar City in the morning - my dad Joe dropped them off at the bus and then the next night, Chris and I and the kids and Adam and Stacey and their family went to have dinner with them and see their end of camp show. This year's theme was "The Magic of Science" and the kids got to do lots of science projects. They sure had fun, but Brennen was quite glad to get back to his own bed!

Well, we had a little mini - vacation to Boise, Idaho to go to a family wedding. We had a great time and were really excited to get out and see another state - the kids thought it was great - they were really excited to go to "Boston", Idaho! Couldn't quite remember where they were going. Also, if you didn't know - according to Hailey, "McDonald's looks and tastes different in Idaho than in Utah." Who knew?

Hi - Yes, we are FINALLY updating our blog. We'll take it one entry at a time. Brennen earned his Webelos badge last night, along with several others. He made a cake for the dinner last night, a Utah Jazz cake, that was purple and had a white border and a basketball. He did it all himself and was quite proud. We all went to the dinner and it was really fun. He loves Scouts and is looking forward to earning his Arrow of Light!

Happy Birthday, Hailey! She turned 7 years old on Oct. 9. We had a party that weekend at the house. She told us that there would be NO Barbies or girly stuff this year - she chose a cake with and ambulance, firetruck and cop car. She also had her friends over for the night. Lots of fun presents, cake and ice cream and fun, fun, fun! This year she got a remote control truck, a piggy bank you can paint and a craft set, and a new outfit. Also lots of fun birthday money from grandmas and grandpas.

Well it's that time of year for us - family pictures. Of course we chose the coldest day of the year in October to do these, but we are still proud of them. Well, we have new baby pictures - we always have new baby pictures. We just had Carter's blessing last Sunday. It was good to have all our family around. We mostly just want to share our new pictures with everyone. Here they are!

Also we had all of the family together for the Wayne County Fair around the middle of August. It's a big thing over here - a larger celebration than the Fourth of July! On Saturday during the parade, our kids would rather ride in their dad's Sheriff truck and throw candy than collect it on the side of main street. They got to dress up in dad's uniform shirts and were happy to help out. Baby Carter just rode in the front with mom this year although I'm sure in the future he'll be glad to wear dad's uniform too!

Jumping On The Bandwagon!

Hi folks! We're jumping on the bandwagon - the blogging bandwagon that is! My sister and cousins have all started blogs so we want to also. Especially since the new edition to our family, which will be our first highlight.

Carter Christian Chappell was born last week on Wednesday, April 17 at 5:34 a.m. - our pride and joy. We are so glad he is here (very glad the pregnancy is over). Now we can get on with our lives - back to camping, raising kids and just enjoying each other.

Updates - Our girls were here with us for the summer, but went back to stay with their mom for the school year. They are in year round school and start on Monday, July 28. We had a great eight weeks with them. We had swimming lessons, science camp, family reunions and 4-H activites. Lots of fun.

Chase had been visiting on and off this summer. He's with his mother in Cedar City and just biding his time until school starts again.

Chris has been busy spraying bugs this summer as usual and being a cop - that's always busy in the summer. He's been doing a lot of fishing - loves the Boulder Mountain lakes when he can get there, but usually opts to fish closer to home. He's proud and be a dad to little Carter and thinks that world of him - we're all glad to have our dad around to help us.

Becca is glad not to be pregnant anymore and is looking forward to the rest of the summer. Still getting used to having a new baby around the house. She has a few months off until she goes back to work in September or October so trying to find projects around the house to complete.

We are excited to start this blog and update with our family pictures and events. Send us your updates too.
